Well, Hello Art Enthusiasts! I'm Linda Petty, the owner & artist behind LPettyArt. I've always loved creating things that spark joy in others, but before my painting career, I pursed teaching and graduated with honors as a music & education major from Lincoln (IL) Christian University. I married my best friend, Bruce, who took me on a 7-state journey for over 50 years to help him lead in ministry, ending up in the beauty of Cumming, Georgia. Now our children are married & we have fantastic grandchildren, who are the loves of my life! Click here if you want to hear More About Me.
As an artist, I love to learn & use a variety of mediums, styles, & palettes. It's been an honor to have my art in a solo artist exhibit at Unicoi Resort in Helen, GA, & be artist of the month at Sawnee Art Association. It was also rewarding to be featured in FoCoWoman magazine, as well as having the opportunity to display in local galleries & sites. Most recently, my painting, "Sawnee in Spring" hung at the Forsyth County Courthouse, which was a great privilege. However, my greatest passion is illustrating the power of Scripture to change lives! I encourage artists to be true to their calling of what inspires them & to paint with a purpose! I'm so excited that LPettyArt.com has now partnered with The Art Storefronts Organization, as a "Trusted Art Seller" to reach & inspire a wider audience!
Quite purposely, a scene in nature will remind me of a scripture verse that lifted my spirit. Then, I can't wait to paint the image to encourage others with the same powerful message! I'm also inspired by others artists' styles, including impressionists: Monet, ... & Erin Gregory.
In my artwork I always love to depict the nuances of light to create shadows & depth as well as use movement & translucent effects that bring the art to life! My favorite painting style is Impressionism, that softens images to get an emotional response to the message I want to convey. Often, I include the techniques of contrast, in bold & soft colors, & brush or palette patterns for texture, (like stippling & pointillism). Also, I enjoy using various mediums, though I prefer Acrylics!
Well, selling my first (20x16) oil painting, "Winter Pond" for $1,530 was a quite an exhilarating experience, especially when the buyer was a much better & experienced artist than I am! Though I was also honored to receive an award at my 1st Art show, been a featured artist at Sawnee Art Assoc., had an article about my work in FoCo Woman magazine, sold nearly $5K Artwork at my 1st individual Art Show, & have been a judge on juried Art shows - these were not my biggest reward or achievement. Rather, it was one of my art students who told me that I had changed her husband's life by encouraging him with the messages of my Art at a show over a year earlier!
