Since my college degree was in education, I was an elementary school teacher & also taught Children's, Youth, Young Adult Church classes & Women's Bible studies in 7 different states. I had the privilege of being a guest speaker at many Christian conferences, special events, & lead retreat programs as well as being a Substitute teacher in all grades & subjects in public & private schools. Consequently, I was thrilled for the opportunity to create a powerful message of a "Teacher's Influence" as an award for Top Teacher of the year! After painting the black background of a chalkboard on the canvas, I buffed it up with off-white brush strokes to resemble light chalk dust, to appear like eraser marks. Because I appreciate the dedication of teachers who need lots of different skills & wisdom in their instruction, I calligraphed this message with different fonts of my paintbrush, "The influence of a teacher can never be erased." After giving this artwork print on canvas award to the high school Russian Language instructor, he was elated & grateful & I was also able to honor both my sister & sister-in-law who both just recently retired from 30-40+ years of teaching careers with the same piece of art!
