Because its extensive, exposed root system is located right next to an unlimited water source, the oak tree can be constantly nourished. The grandeur of mountains in the background, along with the fertile grass, wild flowers & berries, represent a fruit-bearing, productivity that substantially impacts the environment & an awesome view!

The art client who commissioned "Firmly Grounded" wanted me to illustrate the meaning of the hand-painted scripture text, (Jeremiah 17:7-8) in a large artwork to display in their Family Room, as an encouragement to family & friends. So I selected this stunning view of a massive, flourishing tree with a vivd & stalwart root system by the mountain lake. The lightened colors of the morning sun through the tree leaves along with the stability of the massive tree create a contented & secure lifespan, in an imposing environment. To make it more ethereal, I used the tedious art style of Pointillism (paint brush dotting), to emphasize the detailed majesty of creation. However, I had no idea that it would take me 5 1/2 months to paint! This magnificent scene captures the powerful message for our lives as well: to grow strong, deep roots (like the tree) - into the "Word of Truth". It also promises us these same benefits to flourish by staying close to the "Living" Water: to possess enduring strength against the storms of life, have an extensive outreach/ ministry to others, & still be productive in old age!
