My first attempt at painting in color (vs. black & white), was of a lovely "Spring Path" scene I'd seen on a Helen Steiner Rice greeting card. With flourishing Spring colors, it visually invites us to stroll down its peaceful, winding path, to imagine fresh scents & enjoy nature's beauty that uplifts the soul.
This simple scene didn't seem too difficult to tackle. However, it proved to be a bigger challenge to keep the landscape images in proportion on such a small canvas! I believe this prayer describes the visual meaning of "Spring Path" quite well: "Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God, my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long." (Psalm 25:9)
